I try to give away one pair of earrings per day.. Seriously, sometimes when I’m out and about I will actually bring a couple of extra pairs with me in case I run into anyone that may need a pick-me-up! Early on in our business, I decided I wanted to make it a priority to give as much as I am able. This is something that is so important to me for a few reasons.
  • <3 First, I think that noticing when a friend is having a bad day and being able to do something about it is SO important.

  • <3 Second, I have always felt that giving is truly better than receiving. Proverbs 11:25 “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

  • <3 Third, I want this to be an aspect of my brand that people see and think about. When they think “Damsel and Fox” I want them to think about giving, treating themselves and friends, and generosity!

Take a second to think about some sweet gestures where you have been on the receiving end. A favorite snack on a sad day? A sweater you’ve been eyeing for weeks? A surprise trip? A marriage proposal?

My challenge for you today is to take just a little time to think about someone who may need a pick-me-up. Even if they may just need a “you are beautiful” or “you are an amazing mom” or “keep up the good work” comment, these can go a long way. Maybe your sister had a really tough night with her baby last night and needs someone to bring her a coffee, do her dishes, or hold her baby while she showers. Maybe your friend just lost her job and needs someone to bring her dinner. Maybe your mom is just an amazing human being and you wish you could give her the world but you can’t, so you simply bring her a new pair of earrings to brighten her day.. See what I mean?

And hopefully it won’t stop there! Kindness can become contagious. Like the Proverbs I quoted earlier points out, refreshing others refreshes you! I love that term used, “refresh”.  When I think about things that refresh me, I think about ice water when I come back from being out in the heat. I think about hugging my babies when I haven’t seen them all day. I think about spending time with a dear friend and talking about life with them. I think about finally purchasing a new pair of jeans when mine haven’t fit right in 3 years (thank you, pregnancy;)).

What do you think of when you think about being refreshed? Perhaps this can help you think of ways you can refresh others!
